More About Baby

Thought I'd share some pictures from our first moments of meeting the new little man in our lives.
There is nothing like having a new baby in the home.
And we couldn't have asked for a better little guy. We hardly even know he's around.
He doesn't miss a feeding (that's for sure), but other than fussing to eat we don't hear much from him.
We just get to enjoy his squishy cheeks and his love for snuggling all day long.
Can't get enough!

I'm not going to share all the details of my birth story on here. But to explain all the cords on his face in the first picture, I will share a little. It was almost an identical situation as what happened with Amelia. There was an early on concern of meconium being breathed into his lungs. Luckily this time, we had somewhat of a heads up. When he was born he wasn't breathing, but I didn't realize this at first. Mainly because they didn't react with him like they did with Amelia. He looked pink and beautiful, she was white and lifeless. They actually laid him on my chest afterward and let Dad cut the cord, then took him away. It was then that I realized something was wrong. It took a few minutes before we were told he was breathing. They had shoved a tube down his little throat and had also found that no meconium was found, but they still wanted to take him to the NICU for further observation. Before they wheeled him out they brought him back over to me and let me hold him and let us all get a first family photo.

Joseph followed them up to the NICU and was with him for the next few hours. We were told he would probably be in there 48 hours. To my surprise, when they finally wheeled me down to my room a few minutes later, Joseph walked in, baby in tow. I was delighted! He had been in the NICU observation room. After he pulled that tube out several times by himself they decided they weren't going to put it back in and that he had enough fight in him that he wouldn't be needing to stay.
Hallelujah!

Miss Amelia was so excited to meet her "Baby Brother". She had been patiently waiting with her Nessie all day. When they finally brought him to the room she couldn't wait to kiss his cheeks and hasn't stopped since.  She's been so wonderful with him. I seriously can't get over how patient and gentle she is.

The day we left the hospital was Joseph's birthday. Poor tired Daddy was just happy to be going home with his boy.

So happy to have our little handsome guy home with us!
