So long, farewell

We have officially said our goodbyes and can no longer call ourselves New Yorkers. 

That's right. 

Sometimes I still can't believe it myself.

Everything came so out of the blue and happened relatively quickly, that I'm still trying to grasp it all.

We are now Delawareans. (No, the name is not as cool, but we'll make do.)

Let me try to give you the watered-down, quick version of how we got here.

We had been having a hard time getting into our apartment in NY. Things were just moving slower than we wanted them to. Thankfully, we had a very sweet family in our ward who was letting us stay/house sit for them while we were in limbo. It was July 18th, already 3 days past when we were supposed to be in our apartment, and our realtor let us know it would be at least another day because there were more papers for us to sign. Argh! So frustrating. It was just moments after finding this out that Joseph received a very unexpected voice mail. It was a lady from a firm in Delaware that Joseph had interviewed with 2 years prior. Just simply hearing from her was shocking all in itself, but then she was very vague and wished him luck in taking the bar the next week. Both of our first thoughts were, don't sign this lease yet. Then we both came back to reality and realized how ridiculous that was. Finding a place to live had been a horrendous adventure and we could not wait to finally settle on something. We just wanted to have a place to lay our heads and begin easing our way into our new lives in New York. We got into our new place the next afternoon and wasted no time trying to make this new space our new home. Joseph took the bar the next week and then breathed a sigh of relief when he was done. He called me during lunch one afternoon and then said, "Ummm....I gotta go. A Delaware number is calling." He hung up in a hurry and I waited patiently to hear what in the world was going on. Summed up, this firm didn't hire enough people this year. They remembered Joseph and wanted to interview him. My thoughts: What!? Where in the world did this come from? This can't happen. We just signed a year lease. He got an interview set up within the next couple of days and then the waiting began. We waited, and waited, and waited. Over a month later, he finally got a call giving him an offer to work at Potter Anderson & Corroon in Wilmington, DE.

 Within two weeks we found a place to live, packed up, and moved ourselves a few hours south.
Let me just say this...it feels so good to be here. The Lord has blessed our little family in so many ways. As much as we wanted to make New York work for us, He had other plans. We really enjoyed our few months in The Big Apple, but it was just never home for us. Now that we are here everything feels perfect. Our testimonies have once again grown and we've been reminded to put our faith in Our Father's hands and let him take care of everything.

Joseph has 2 weeks of work under his belt now and seems to really be enjoying it. Amelia and I have been busy setting up house and getting ready for our new little man.
